I’m so grateful that you are considering coming to counseling. I want to honor the courage it takes for you to be here, exploring what it might look like to make that first appointment. Whatever has brought you to this place, I want you to know that I am committed to your healing and growth. One of the greatest joys of my life is getting to create a sacred and safe space for you as you begin this brave and vulnerable process of counseling.

I practice counseling from a trauma-informed perspective. I believe that trauma is stored in our bodies and that our bodies also hold an inherent wisdom and ability to move towards healing when given the support and resources needed to do so. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and utilize this approach to treating trauma consistently in my practice. Being trauma-informed also means that I strive to integrate Polyvagal Theory and an understanding of how the autonomic nervous system is impacted by trauma, and how we can also learn resources that can help our nervous system return to a place of regulation when they have become dysregulated or triggered by traumatic material. I also utilize Internal Family Systems and an understanding of how we all have various “parts” of ourselves that play specific roles in helping us both survive and then heal from trauma as we move towards wholeness and living an integrated life.

When I’m not in the counseling room, I’m grateful to be spending time with my husband and our 3 young children. We love to be outdoors together and spend as much time in nature as we can! I’m also an avid reader, and my favorite way to decompress is with a good book in one hand and a hot cup of coffee in the other.
